The Pu’er tea’s name is “tasting antique.” During the Tang and Song dynasties, China began the “Tea-Horse Trade,” trading with ethnic groups beyond the dynasty’s borders. The Central Plains dynasty needed warhorses, while the ethnic groups outside the Central Plains lacked vegetables in their diet. Hence, tea was introduced to supplement their vitamin intake. Records of “Pu tea” can be found in the Ming Dynasty’s “Dianlue” book. By the Qing Dynasty in China’s history, Pu’er tea had become a tribute to the emperor from the Yunnan region. By the mid-17th century, Britain was importing over ten thousand pounds of tea from China annually. Until the 18th century, tea had become the primary commodity in Britain’s trade with China, and it was all Pu’er tea.
